Population Policies
Today Greece's population is declienig. The population has been declining steadly for a number of years. there are many reasons why the population is declineing. One is the fertility rate. Right now Greece's fertility rate is at 1.3. To maintain a constant population a country would need a fertility rate of about 2.0. Again this low fertility rate could be a caused by many different things. Many people beilive that it is because More women are unemployed. Women don't want to bring a child into this world if they are not going to be able to take care of them. The effect of this o the country is that, because thee is a lower birth rate it pus pressure on the younger generation to care for the older generation.
Immigration policies
Right now Greece is is trying to figure out there immigration policies. The massive amounts of refugees coming into Greece has caused a problem. They are trying to help the immigrants and also keep there country in order. To do this Greece is trying to improve reception centers and detention centers and make illegal immigrants become legal. The effects of there immigration policies not being more solid is that it can be a little caotic when thousands upon thousands of immigrants cross the Mediterranean sea.
Migration in Greece
Greece is a relatively developed country. As a result of this other less developed countries see Greece as a better place to go to. In Syria and Africa there are a lot of places where it is hard for people to live. For example in Syria there is a large civil war happening, Some countries in Africa are experiencing a drought. All of these people are trying to go to a better place. They See the Mediterranean as a way to get to that better place. Since Greece is right along the coast of the Mediterranean It is a country where a lot of people go.
